On July 16, Israel carried out heavy airstrikes on Syria's capital, Damascus, targeting key locations including the Syrian Defense Ministry headquarters, areas near the presidential palace, and major military command centers. According to Israel, the strikes were launched in response to the Syrian army's military actions against the Druze minority in the Suwayda region. The Druze community resides in both Syria and Israel, and is known to be loyal to Israel, which is why Israel is committed to their protection. Following these airstrikes, the Syrian army has temporarily halted its military operation in Suwayda.
