The F-35B, America’s most advanced fifth-generation fighter jet, which was handed over to the United Kingdom, has now been sitting idle for over two weeks at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in India, gathering dust like an abandoned old car. The aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on June 14 due to fuel exhaustion and a hydraulic failure. Despite multiple attempts by the UK to send in teams to repair the jet, the state-of-the-art aircraft has remained non-operational. Now, India is reportedly demanding a daily parking fee of ₹26,000 from the UK for keeping the fighter jet at the airport.
