On June 22, the United States carried out airstrikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities. However, according to American intelligence assessments, these strikes did not significantly damage Iran’s nuclear program. This appears to be true, as the U.S. is now offering Iran a deal in which it would invest $20 to $30 billion in Iran’s civilian nuclear sector, return $6 billion in frozen Iranian funds, and lift economic sanctions. In return, Iran would be required to suspend its nuclear program. However, Iran has rejected this offer, stating that it will not halt uranium enrichment.
