On June 29, a massive fire broke out in the engine room of the oil tanker MT Yi Cheng 6, which was sailing from India’s Kandla Port to Shinas in Oman. The fire also caused a complete power failure on the vessel. The ship was carrying 14 crew members, all of Indian origin. As soon as the fire erupted, the crew sent out a distress signal, which was promptly received by the Indian Navy. In response, the stealth frigate INS Tabar quickly reached the location to lead the rescue operation. A team of 13 Indian Navy personnel, along with 5 crew members from the tanker, jointly began efforts to extinguish the fire. As of now, the situation is under control.
