Recently, during a seminar held in Indonesia, India’s Defence Attaché Captain (Indian Navy) Shiv Kumar stated that the Indian aircraft lost during Operation Sindoor were brought down because the Indian government had issued clear orders not to target Pakistan's military infrastructure or air defense systems. Captain Shiv Kumar’s statement raises important questions about the Indian government’s decisions, but at the same time, it also highlights a crucial fact that the Indian Army follows the orders of its elected government, which is a healthy sign for any democracy. In contrast, when a country’s military stops obeying its civilian leadership, the chances of a military coup increase as has often been seen in India’s neighboring country, Pakistan.
